What to do with Stale Bread?
So you threw a dinner party days ago and went overboard at the bread shop when you were tempted with all that warm fresh bread? Now, as you’re rummaging through the kitchen for a snack, you’re faced with the horrifying realization that the soft, fluffy bread you had at dinner a few days back has now become hard enough to put a hole through drywall. But is stale bread really a nightmare? Of course not! There are many things you can make with stale bread: Seupa Vapellenentse (Cabbage soup from Valle D'Aosta,) or Pappa al Pomodoro (Tuscan Bread and Tomato Soup)—just to name a few. You could also turn it into bread crumbs by cutting the leftover bread into large cubes, baking them until fully dried out and golden and then pulsing them in your food processor. Perfetto for your breaded meats and fish, or as an addition to meat loaf. So the next time you find yourself stuck with stale bread, consider drowning your sorrows in a big, delicious bowl of bread soup or a deliciously crunchy piece of pollo impanato (breaded chicken)!
