The uniqueness of Vincotto is based on a traditional secret recipe that is strictly guarded by the Calogiuri family who have lived in Lizzanello for over 400 years. The Vincotto elixir is obtained from the sweet, velvety juice of the Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera grapes which are left to dry on the vines. Once picked, the grapes are then simmered for over 24 hours until the juice becomes a rich and almost syrup-like. It is then aged in small oak barrels for over 4 years to develop it's signature Vincotto flavor. No additives, preservatives or dyes are used.
