Full flavored with refreshing aromas of grapefruit and lush texture.
Umbria - "The Green Heart Of Italy" - has always lived in the shadow of neighboring Tuscany. Bisected by the Appenine mountain chain, its hilltowns - Perugia, Assisi, Spello, Spoleto, Todi, Orvieto, Montefalco - were always more difficult of access. In wine terms, Umbria was always Nowheresville, until the advent of the winery of Arnaldo Caprai, and the vision of his son Marco.
Made from 100% grechetto grapes, which have been considered Umbria's finest local variety since Renaissance times .While probably originally from Greece, DNA tests have shown that it is not the same variety as Greco di Tufo from southern Italy. On the slopes of the Colli Martani, this grape produces a wine of deep straw yellow color, with aromas of citrus, wildflowers and hazelnuts. No oak is allowed to mask its intriguing aromas, and it is full and lush on the palate. This is an excellent non-chardonnay, and is superb with antipasti and all seafood and white meat dishes.
