Candied Calabrian lemons coated with pure chocolate.
Once the center of Magna Graecia, Calabria has long been a cultural crossroads adjoining diverse Mediterranean cultures. As evidence of this, many of the fruit varietals today seen in Calabria have their origins in northern Africa, such as the tangerine and lemon. The hot arid climate is particularly ideal for producing Calabria's sweet, juicy lemons, which are prized for their tender pulpy fruit.
Each of the lemons at Fattoria Montescudiero is picked by hand, then candied in the artisans' sweet blend of sugar, then dipped in dark chocolate. A fusion of flavor for an exquisite holiday treat.
