Savuto is a blend of ancient varietals that are rich and bold, and have been given extended bottle aging to mellow the firm tannins.
For more than 500 years, the Odoardi family has been making wine in their Nocera Terinese vineyards near Catanzaro on the Tyrrhenian coast of the Southern Italian region of Calabria. Pliny the Elder was a fan of this stony, minerally, big red wine, as were Roman nobles who reserved it for their most important feasts.
