A powerful yet elegant Brunello. Just south of Siena in the region of Montalcino, one of the great wines of Italy and the world is made with the Brunello clone of the sangiovese grape. After a disasterous rain-plagued 2002 vintage, the 2003 vintage brought almost too much fine hot weather, but experienced winemakers like the renowned Attilio Pagli at Fornacina, picked at the optimum moment and produced a wine of not only undeniable power but of elegance and finesse as well. This is a superb Brunello, already showing youthful charm, but one which will mature beautifully over the next 10 years.
